This research was started when I was involved in developing industrial expert systems for seismic and well-logging interpretation, where dealing with uncertainty became an issue. Since then, my research has been focused on a particular uncertainty reasoning mechanism called evidential reasoning that was developed on the basis of the Dempster-Shafter’s theory of evidence. Our research on this particular topic involved developing an extended framework for evidential reasoning to represent heuristic knowledge. Some of our recent efforts on this topic have been made on re-interpreting Dempster’s evidence combination.
The research led to two papers published in the International Journal of Knowledge and Information Systems and the International Journal of Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence, and two other IEEE/international conference papers.
