The following provides details of material to be handed in for assessment.
Outline Business Plan
2 page business plan. First draft to submit electronically by Monday week 8. This will be marked and the comments used to improve. Have a paragraph on the following sections: Executive Summary; Market Opportunity; Competitive Differentiation; Business Model; Management Team; Finance. More information is provided under the assessment section and during lectures.
Interim Business Plan
8-16 page business plan to submit Thursday week 12 1st semester. In Addition, a plan should be provided in relation to the secod semester. This should cover final business plan and prototype development.
Final Business Plan
35 page (max length) business plan. Submit week 11, 2nd Semester to General Office
Group Portfolio
Software / mobile / internet demo and technical report. Hand in week 11, 2nd semester. Same format as Software Engineering Project.
The objective is to create software that demonstrates your product or service. The structure for the technical report is similar to the one you use for your software engineering projects. Sections on Customer needs, Analysis, requirements, design, code, test, implement, maintain. The marking will take a holistic view of the demonstration, software & write up. You are encouraged to submit early drafts of work for comment.
The business plan will focus on the market and financing, the technical report will focus on the design, software & hardware aspects. The task is to show how the key ideas would work in practice.
Presentations
Presentations in class. (Missing a presentation means 0% allocated unless a replacement is organised to stand in for you
Development Diary
Personal diary of notes taken of presentations by class colleagues and guests. Summarise and give evaluation of content and delivery. What to imitate, what to avoid. Diary of project meetings, notes, contribution, reflections. What could have done better? What worked well? No plagiarism. Hand in end of week 12, 2nd semester.
